Professor of Empire Innovation

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at University at Buffalo (UB) invites candidates to apply for a faculty position be known as Professor of Empire Innovation. Selected candidates will receive support through the SUNY Empire Innovation Program (EIP) which recognizes high caliber faculty with proven track records of externally funded research.
We invite applications from prominent leaders in a broad spectrum of biomedical engineering with special attention given to applicants in the areas of: 1) biomedical analytics; 2) biomedical image computation; or 3) artificial intelligence (AI) for biomedical applications.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering is a joint venture between the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) and the Jacob’s School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (JSMBS). Previous University investments in faculty and facilities have enabled the Department to position itself as a key player in the expanding biomedical and biotechnology corridor in the Buffalo-Niagara region.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, mentor graduate students, advise students at all levels and maintain an established active research program. Successful candidates will be expected to collaborate with scientists, engineers and clinicians in a multidisciplinary research environment spanning all Schools of the University as well as the Gates Vascular Institute, The Jacobs Institute, the New York State Center for Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. The newly launched Innovation Hub provide opportunities and resources to commercialize technology and launch new companies.
The University at Buffalo (UB), a member of the prestigious American Association of Universities, is the largest and most comprehensive university in The State University of New York (SUNY) system, with about 20,000 undergraduates and 10,000 graduate students and 1600 fulltime faculty. The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences has 6,000 students enrolled across 9 academic departments.
