Research Support Specialist

Buffalo, New York ~ August 22, 2019

The Laboratory of Motivation and Addiction (see meyerlabscience.org for more information) is embarking on a genome-wide association study in which we will test over 1400 rats on cocaine self-administration measures of reinforcement. This project is a collaboration between us and the University of California – San Diego, University of Michigan, University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, Wake Forest University, and the University of Colorado (see ratgenes.org for more information). We are hiring at least two research technicians to conduct surgeries, test animals in our behavioral apparatus, and dissect tissue for genetic analysis.
Candidates should have a BS, BA, or MA in neuroscience, biopsychology, or related field, and be available to work weekends when experiments require it. Other duties will include conducting in-vivo neurophysiological recordings, perform stereotaxic brain surgery, utilize neurophysiological and data analysis software including Offline Sorter, Nex, MED-PC, and Statistica, and manufacture of small electronics and molecular biological techniques.
