Service & Repair Mechanic (HVAC-R)

This position is located in the Maintenance Repair department within the Facilities department at the University. The incumbent of this position will be responsible to operate, maintain, repair and install refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. To be successful in this position the incumbent must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot and overhaul the following:
• All types of coolers, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units and systems
• Humidifiers
• Compressors
• Ventilators
• Cooling towers and other similar and related equipment
Incumbents must be at a journey level and are responsible for leading and training other crew members. Must also possess a working knowledge of electrical and electronic controls associated with refrigeration and cooling systems.
The incumbent must obtain a Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification within six months of starting date.
Successful candidates in the position must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. This position may require you to work in a team so the candidate should have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. The candidate must possess and have proven positive customer service skills; must also possess good listening skills and be able to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions. Since the activities of other employees depend upon the availability of the employee in this position, reliable attendance is a factor that will be considered when filling this vacancy.
